I love sculpting both figures and animals and the joyful relationships
between them. I work directly from a model whenever possible. My childhood
around animals in rural Malibu, California, and vacations in Idaho, as
well as travels in Europe have influenced my art. I have a B.A. in Art
History from UCLA, which has greatly shaped my taste for the classical,
although I equally enjoy working in an abstract style. I find working
back and forth between the two mind sets keeps me fresh and excited about
sculpting and sharpens my eye for form and composition. I have continued
studying art under various masters in the United States and France, including
Richard MacDonald, Sandy Scott, Lincoln Fox and Peter Rubino.
I have received several awards in national juried exhibitions. including
the BAMCO at the "2000 Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit",
and First in Show at the "2000 Hilton Head Art League National Juried
Exhibition" in South Carolina, First Place in Sculpture at "Echoes
& Visions IV", sponsored by the Laguna Niguel Art Association
in California, and a prize for Sculpture from the Academic Artists Associations'
"51st National Exhibition of Contemporary Realism in Art" in
Springfield, MA.
Galleries where my work can be seen include Judith Hale Gallery in Los
Olivos, CA, McLean Gallery in Malibu, CA, the Courtyard Gallery in Half
Moon Bay, CA, and the Lagerquist Gallery in Atlanta, GA. My studio is
in Manhattan Beach, CA.
